Abstract:Objective To analyze the status of human parvovirus (HPV) B19 infection in pregnant women in the south area of Jiangsu so as to provide basic data for maternal and child health care in this area. Methods Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect specific IgM antibody in the sera of pregnant women in the south area of Jiangsu in 2012-2014. Results The positive rate of HPV B19 IgM antibody in 8,927 pregnant women was 13.83%, and no statistically significant difference was found among the 3 years (χ2=0.35, P>0.05). The infection rates of adverse pregnancy outcome group, normal pregnancy group and premarital checkup group were 16.37%, 12.59% and 13.39% respectively, with statistically significant differences (χ2=16.76, P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the incidence rate of adverse pregnancy outcome between the infection group and the non-infected group (χ2=38.71, P<0.05). Conclusions HPV B19 infection in pregnancy can cause adverse pregnancy outcomes. The infection rate of HPV B19 in pregnant women in the south area of Jiangsu in 2012-2014 is not low, and the related maternal and child health care units should strengthen the monitoring of HPV B19 infection and conduct a comprehensive examination so as to improve the quality of the population.
