Research progress on low protein diet and chronic kidney disease

Abstract：Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a structural or functional abnormality that occurs after irreversible renal damage. As the disease develops, the problem of nutrient metabolism becomes prominent. Low protein diet (LPD) as a nutritional therapy is an important part of comprehensive treatment of patients with chronic kidney disease. This article summarizes the significance of LPD for CKD treatment, problems and prospects in its implementation, and aims at providing references for nutritional treatment and management of CKD.
