Abstract:Objective To investigate the epidemiological features of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Jiamusi city from 2004 to 2017, to evaluate the efficacy of vaccination against HFRS, and to provide a scientific basis for its prevention and control. Methods Descriptive analysis was made on the direct online reporting of HFRS in Jiamusi city from 2004 to 2017. Chi-square test was used to compare the incidence rates. Results There were 5, 318 cases of HFRS reported in Jiamusi city during 2004-2017. The average annual incidence rate was 15.33/100, 000. There were statistically significant differences in the average incidence rates among different years (χ2=1, 856.94, P<0.05). The incidence of HFRS had obvious seasonal characteristics, and most of the cases were young and middle-aged males. 69.76% of the cases were farmers. The sex ratio of male to female was 3.64∶1. The average incidence rate of HFRS was higher in males than in females (χ2=1, 617.99, P<0.05). The incidence rate of HFRS after the introduction of vaccination decreased year by year. Conclusions Farmers are the key population for HFRS prevention and control; moreover, prevention efforts should be intensified among workers, students, retirees, homemaking service attendants and other occupational groups. The vaccination has obvious effect on HFRS prevention and control; and hence, it is suggested that the vaccination coverage rate of people aged 45 years and above should be improved.
