Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of vitamin B2 on reducing the frequency of migraine attack and pain relief in children. Methods PubMed, EMbase, the Cochrane Library, CNKI, VIP and Wanfang database were searched for allrandomized-controlled trials of vitamin B2 in the prevention and treatment of migraine in children as of April 30, 2018. Theliteratures were screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, the data were extracted and the methodological quality was assessed. RevMan 5.3 was used for meta analysis. Results A total of 6 groups of randomized-controlled trials were included. The results of meta analysis showed that the incidence of migraine in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (placebo), with a statistically significant difference (MD=-1.97, 95%CI:-3.72-0.23, P=0.03). No statistically significant difference was found in migraine pain index between the treatment group and the control group (SMD=-0.53, 95%Cl:-1.37-0.30, P=0.21). The results of sensitivity analysis remained unchanged after excluding trails with lower methodological quality scores. Subgroup analysis showed that low dose (50 mg) might be the cause of heterogeneous elevation. Conclusions The existing experimental evidence shows that vitamin B2 can reduce the frequency of migraine attack in children, but has no significant effect on reducing migraine pain index.
