Abstract:Paternal prenatal depression is receiving increasing attention; moreover, it can also affect the occurrence of postpartum adverse outcomes, including paternal or maternal postpartum depression as well as neonatal birth outcome, growth and development. In this paper, we review the relationship between paternal prenatal depression and adverse postpartum outcome as well as research progress of its potential mechanism so as to provide improved measures for perinatal health policy and further improve the health status of pregnant women and their offspring.
