Abstract:ObjectiveTo research the diagnostic values of EB virus IgG, IgA, IgM antibodies and EB-DNA in detecting respiratory infection among children. MethodsThe serum samples of 431 children with respiratory infection from the People’s Hospital of Human Province were subject to detection of EB virus IgG, IgA, IgM antibodies by ELISA, and their throat swabs and plasma samples were subject to EB-DNA detection by PCR. 189 children hospitalized in the hospital during the same period and without respiratory infection were chosen as the controls. The positive rates of EB-DNA and IgG, IgA, IgM antibodies were determined and compared among the infected children of different ages. The efficacy of the indexes in the diagnosis of respiratory infectious diseases were compared using ROC curve. ResultsThe positive rates of EB-DNA and IgG, IgM antibodies varied significantly among different age groups of the children with respiratory tract infection (P<0.05). Areas under ROC curves for the four indicators were, EB-IgM>EB-DNA>EB-IgA>EB-IgG. The sensitivity of EB-IgG and EB-DNA was superior, while the specificity of EB-IgM was better. ConclusionsDetection of EB-IgG, EB-IgA, EB-IgM and EB-DNA has reference value for the diagnosis of respiratory infectious diseases. The immune response to the EB virus varies among the infected children due to the different development stages of the immune system at different ages.
