Abstract:Objective To investigate the current status of smoking cessation intervention service in smoking cessation clinics so as to provide a basis for implementing smoking cessation service. Methods Data of demographic information, smoking behavior and smoking cessation were collected from first diagnosis and one-month follow-up by using an uniform questionnaire among all objects who sought consultation and were treated in six smoking cessation clinics in Hubei Province from October, 2015 to June, 2016. The effects of smoking cessation service were evaluated. Results A total of 673 smokers were enrolled from six smoking cessation clinics, and 98.36% of them were male. 451 smokers accepted and fulfilled the follow-up. The one-month smoking-quitting rate was 38.80%. The proportion of smokers with habit of smoking every day decreased from 92.68% at first diagnosis to 51.44%, and they felt their health condition improved. 59.79% of smokers sought help for smoking cessation through the hospital referral. Conclusions Smoking cessation intervention service in smoking cessation clinic is one of the effective ways to help smokers quit smoking. It is necessary to constantly improve the service quality of smoking cessation clinics and enhance the hospital referral so as to increase the awareness rate and visit rate of smoking cessation clinics.
