Abstract:Objective To explore whether there is an interaction between parenting style and sports behavior and their impacts on the social problems of preschoolers, and to provide a reference basis for related personnel to conduct health education and early intervention. Methods A stratified cluster sampling method was used to randomly select 449 children and their parents in a city. Child Behavior Check-List, Scale of Parenting Style and other scales were employed to evaluate the preschoolers' socialproblems, parenting style and sports behavior. Logistic regression was applied to analyzing the factors influencing social problems, and the interaction between parenting style and sports behavior was analyzed using the product term method and Bootstrap method. Results The detection rate of social problems in the preschoolers was 15.1%. Logistic regression analysis displayed that compared with the mothers' high authority and low autocracy, the mothers' low authority and high autocracy (OR=3.233, 95%CI:1.372-7.616) and the mothers' medium authority and medium autocracy (OR=4.663, 95%CI:1.761-12.344) were the risk factors for social problems (P<0.05). Compared with the mothers' high authority, low autocracy and sports behavior, the mothers' low authority, high autocracy and sports behavior (OR=1.245, 95%CI:1.042-1.486) was the risk factor for social problems (P<0.05), whereas the mothers' medium authority, medium autocracy and sports behavior (OR=0.643, 95%CI:0.440-0.939) was the protective factor for social problems (P<0.05). The results of Bootstrap method revealed that the higher the mothers' level of authority in the aspect of parenting style, the lower the level of autocracy as well as the lower the incidence of social problems under the adjustment of medium-level (simple slope=-0.950, Z=-4.959, P<0.001) and high-level (simple slope=-1.493, Z=-4.624, P<0.001) sports behaviors. In addition, the incidence rate of social problems showed a slowly decreasing trend under the adjustment of medium-level sports behavior. Conclusion Under the adjustment of medium- and high-level sports behaviors, the higher the mothers' level of authority in the aspect of parenting style, the lower the level of autocracyas well asthe lower the incidence rate of social problems. Under the adjustment of medium-level sports behavior, the incidence rate of social problems displays a slowly declining tendency.
