Abstract:Objective To explore the association between foot skin temperature and the incidence of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Methods Two reviewers independently searched the PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP databases to screen literatures regarding the correlation between foot skin temperature and the occurrence of DFU in patients with DM. A meta-analysis was performed using Stata v16.0 and RevMan v5.3. Results Eight articles, including 4 prospective cohort studies, 3 randomized controlled trials and 1 case‐control study were included into this study. 804 subjects were enrolled, including 412 ones in the experimental group and 392 ones in the control group. The results of meta-analysis showed that elevated foot skin temperature was a risk factor for the incidence of DFU (RR=1.95, 95%CI: 1.47-2.58). The dose-response analysis displayed that there was a linear correlation between foot skin temperature and DFU risk (χ2=9.90, P=0.002; RR=1.17, 95%CI: 1.06-1.28). Conclusion There was a correlation between foot skin temperature and DFU, but this result still need to be validated by more clinical evidence.
