Abstract:Objective To investigate and analyze the status of working, living and psychological health among staff in centers for disease control and prevention (CDCs) in Anhui Province during the COVID-19 epidemic. Methods A convenient sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey and psychological scale evaluation among staff from CDCs at all levels in Anhui Province in February 2020. Results Six hundred and seventy-nine valid questionnaires were obtained in this study, including 381 (56.1%) questionnaires from males and 298 (43.9%) ones from females. Among the participants surveyed, 663 (97.6%) staff members participated in the work concerning COVID-19 prevention and control. 658 (96.9%) staff members needed to work overtime during the COVID-19 epidemic, of which 318 (48.6%) staff members worked overtime more than 20 hours weekly. 149 (21.9%) staff members had anxiety symptoms, and the anxiety status was different among the staff members with different working years and ages (χ2=7.428, χ2=8.588, both P<0.05). 234 (34.4%) staff members had depression symptoms, and their depression status was also different because of their different ages, working years, highest academic degree obtained, professional titles and CDCs at various levels. (χ2=35.336, χ2=17.121, χ2=25.291, χ2=22.152, χ2=40.847, all P<0.05). Conclusion Mental and physical health of the staff from CDCs in Anhui Province was affected during the COVID-19 epidemic. It is necessary to take corresponding intervention measures so as to improve their abilities of psychological adjustment in response to public health emergencies.
