Abstract:Objective To explore the internal mechanism of effect of social support on sleep quality among college students so as to provide a theoretical basis for improving college students’ sleep quality. Methods The Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS), simplified version of Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC10), Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale (PSQI) were used to survey 1,036 college students in Shandong Province. Results Social support had a significant and positive predictive effect on sleep quality of the college students (β=-0.19, P<0.001). The college students’ psychological resilience played a partial mediating role in social support and sleep quality, and the mediating effect accounted for 57.89% of the total effect. The interaction between social support and anxiety had a significant effect on the prediction of mental resilience (t=-4.72, P<0.001). Anxiety could regulate the effect of social support on sleep quality (t=2.70, P<0.01). Conclusion Social support has an effect on improving sleep quality of the college students. Psychological resilience and anxiety have mediating and regulating effects on the relationship between the college students’ social support and sleep quality, respectively.
