Abstract:Objective To explore the occupational related influencing factors of vaginitis so as to provide an important basis for professional women’s reproductive health care. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the general information and vaginal micro-ecological test results of 848 occupational female vaginitis patients who were admitted to Gynecological Department of Shenyang Women’s and Children’s Hospital from December 2018 to September 2019, and identified the influencing factors related to occupational vaginitis. Results Most of the 848 patients with vaginitis were aged between 30 and 40 years (51.77%), and the majority had a college/undergraduate/postgraduate degree (52.48%). A total of 612 (72.17%) women had their children. Among all the patients, the incidence rate of aerobic vaginitis was the highest (44.46%), followed by mixed vaginitis (24.29%). No statistically significant difference was found in the detection rates of various vaginitis in different occupations. Among all the professional women enrolled in the study, mixed vaginitis was more common in women without stress (P=0.004) or persistent standing (P=0.005), bacterial vaginosis was prevalent in sedentary women (P=0.004), and vulvovaginal candidiasis was rife in sedentary (P=0.011) or non-persistent standing women (P=0.001). Conclusions Sexually active women of child-bearing age are susceptible to vaginitis. Different occupations may lead to the increase in the incidence rates of different types of vaginitis. Enhancing reproductive health education targeted to occupational characteristics of different jobs is of great significance for caring for women, strengthening females’ occupational protection, and promoting healthy and harmonious development of the society.
