Abstract:Objective To analyze the epidemiology and nucleic acid test results of 79 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Changde city so as to provide a basis for formulating scientific and efficient prevention and control measures. Methods We collected the epidemiological data of 79 confirmed COVID-19 cases diagnosed on January 24, 2020 and February 19, 2020 according to the Prevention and Control Plan for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Fifth Edition) issued by the National Health Commission. Combined with nucleic acid test results, retrospective study and statistical analysis were performed. Results Of the 79 confirmed cases, 41 were males and 38 females, with a male-to-female ratio of 1.08∶1. The age distribution ranged from 22 to 81 years old, and 35 (44.3%) cases were 50 years and above. The cases mainly occurred in Li county (32.9%, 26/79) and Wuling district (27.8%, 22/79), with a total of 48 (60.8%) cases reported in the two places. There were 48 (60.8%) cases with a history of sojourn in Wuhan and Hubei, and thefirst 20 cases confirmed had a history of sojourn in Wuhan and Hubei. The average duration from onset to admission was 4.20 days, 43 (54.4%) cases were admitted within 3 days and 14 (17.7%) cases after 7 days. The mean interval between admission and diagnosis was 2.37 days, and 58 (73.4%) cases were diagnosed within 2 days after admission. 49 cases had been cured and discharged as of February 19, with an average length of hospital stay of 15.88 days, and 33 (67.4%) cases were under 50 years of age. The male-to-female ratio in 9 severe cases was 8∶1, 7 cases were above 50 years of age, and 6 cases had a history of sojourn in Wuhan and Hubei. The Ct value of lab gene was 19.25-39.34, with the mean of 31.25. The Ct value of N gene was 18.78-39.20, with the mean of 31.53. Conclusions No gender difference was found between male and female incidence. Most of the patients were the middle-aged and elderly, and were distributed in Li county and Wuling district. The majority of the early cases had a history of sojourn in Wuhan and Hubei. Nucleic acid test results showed no difference among groups. The severe cases were mainly middle-aged and elderly men.
