Abstract: Objective To explore the expression of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) colorectal neoplasia differentially expressed (CRNDE) in the plasma of breast cancer patients and its clinical significance. Methods Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of lncRNA CRNDE in breast cancer tissues, matched para-cancerous tissues and plasma from 76 patients with breast cancer. The correlation between lncRNA CRNDE expression in plasma and clinical pathological characteristics of breast cancer was analyzed. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was constructed to evaluate the efficiency of plasma levels of lncRNA CRNDE in the diagnosis of breast cancer. 80 physical examinees were simultaneously selected as the control group, and the expression of plasma lncRNA CRNDE was detected. Results The expression level of lncRNA CRNDE was significantly higher in cancer tissues than in matched para-cancerous tissues ((2.73±1.66) vs.(2.06±1.67)) as well as significantly higher in the patients with breast cancer than in the healthy controls ((1.79±1.05)vs. (1.40±1.12)), showing statistically significant differences (both P<0.05). There was no correlation between the expression level of lncRNA CRNDE in plasma and clinicopathological characteristics of breast cancer patients (P>0.05). The area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.66. Conclusion High expression of plasma lncRNA CRNDE may serve as a novel potential biomarker for the diagnosis of breast cancer.
