Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the willingness of college students to perform first-aid skills to strange patient in Yulin, and to explore factors and methods to resolve this problem. MethodsParticipants from Yulin Teacher’s College were inquired randomly about their willingness to perform first-aid skills by questionnaires. ResultsA total of 766 individuals completed the questionnaire, about 61.4%(470/766) of the participants claimed they would definitely perform first-aid skills to a stranger, on the other hand, the rate that won’t to perform this first-aid skills reached 25.9%(198/766). The uppermost reason of unwillingness to perform first-aid skills was due to the lack of confidence in their ability to perform the skills, the rate reached 69.6%. After compared these student who have been received the first-aid skills training with these who have not been trained, the result showed that the rate of trained students would perform first-aid skills to a stranger was higher than that untrained. ConclusionIn all categories of respondents, willingness to perform first-aid skills for a stranger was lower than foreign. Better training in first-aid skills, promoting self-confidence, and protect these people would perform first-aid skills to a stranger from damaging by policy were the better methods to promote the college students willingness.
