Pollution status of Legionella pneumophila in water system in public place of Shenzhen From 2012 to 2013

Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention,Shenzhen,518055,China[Abstract] Objective To investigate Legionella pneumophila pollution situation of water system in the public places of Shenzhen. Methods According to "Hygienic specification of central air conditioning ventilation system in public buildings " appendix B, a total of 194 water samples were collected in 41 public places of cooling water, condensate water, shower water, tap water and swimming pool water randomly,Legionella pneumophila and bacteria type were tested. Results The detection rates of cooling water, tap water and shower water Legionella pneumophila were 46.2 (32/69), 42.3% (22/52), 34.6% (18/52) respectively. Legionella pneumophila was not tested in condensation water and swimming pool water; In hotels, shopping malls, subway station and waiting room, the detection rate of cooling water Legionella pneumophila were 54.2% (13/24), 36% (9/25), 62.5% (5/8), 41.7% (5/12), and no significant difference (χ²=2.611,P=0.455); In 79 strains of Legionella pneumophila isolation strains were mainly LP1 type, accounting for 68.1% (47/79), LP3 type and other types of bacteria accounted for 24.1% (19/79), 16.5% (13/79) respectively. Conclusion Cooling water, tap water and shower water of the public air in the city were contaminated and there were health hazards. The cleaning and disinfection of air conditioning system and domestic water should be strengthened.
