Abstract:Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of brucellosis cases in Hunan Province from 2010 to 2014 so as to provide scientific evidence for conducting the related prevention and control work. Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted on the data of human brucellosis cases reported through the network direct reporting system in Hunan Province during 2010-2014. Results A total of 103 human brucellosis cases were reported in Hunan Province from 2010 to 2014, and the annual average reported incidence rate was 0.31/1,000,000. 50 cases were reported in 2014 (0.75/1,000,000); moreover, the number of cases and the incidence rate reached a new record high, and the reported incidence rate increased by 128.57% as compared with 2013. All the cases were reported by 14 cities and prefectures in Hunan Province except Chenzhou City, of which the top three cities with the most accumulative reported cases were Changsha City (n=41, 39.8%), Yiyang City (n=18, 17.5%) and Shaoyang City (n=12, 11.7%). Conclusions The reported cases of brucellosis in Hunan Province are basically increased year by year since 2010, and the incidence is concentrated in Changsha, Yiyang and Shaoyang. Human brucellosis cases mainly occur from April to September in Hunan Province. And human brucellosis prevention and treatment should be strengthened.
