Abstract:ObjectiveTo understand the nutritional status of primary and secondary school students in Hunan Province from 2014-2015. MethodsThe study sample recruited from rural areas through multiple-stage cluster sampling, Nutritional survey and analysis has been done on 64524 6~18 year old Hunan primary and secondary school students from 2014-2015. ResultAmong 64524 primary and secondary school students, malnutrition detection rate was 14.87%, most with moderate and severe malnutrition (36.75%), more boys than girls (χ2=236.37,P<0.05), grade 1 to 3 and junior middle school worse than grade 4 to 6 in rural elementary school (χ2=93.44,P<0.05); Nutrition surplus detection rate was 13.24%, overweight (8.2%) higher than obesity (5.0%) , more boys than girls (χ2=370.81,P<0.05), grade 4 to 6 and junior middle school worse than grade 1 to 3 (χ2=370.81,P<0.05). ConclusionMalnutrition and nutrition surplus coexists in primary and secondary school students in Hunan province. And their detection rate was high, Relevant departments should strengthen nutrition education and carry out targeted interventions.
