Abstract:Objective To understand the level of infectious disease prevention and control and its influencing factors among childcare workers in kindergartens in Pudong New Area under medicine-education combination mode, and to provide theoretical basis both for further strengthening the building of infectious disease prevention and control teams in childcare workers in kindergartens, and for improving the practical work of medicine-education combination mode. Methods From May to June, 2016, 192 kindergartens were selected by stratified random sampling method. 2 childcare workers in each kindergarten and a total of 384 workers were investigated. The investigation involved the professional level of infectious disease prevention and control and the influencing factors, such as whether the workers had participated in aggregation events or had been trained. Results The total awareness rates of basic knowledge of common infectious diseases and preventive measures in childcare workers in public kindergartens, private kindergartens and nursing points were 81.00%, 67.00% and 59.00% respectively, showing statistically significant difference (χ2=257.48,P<0.001). Childcare workers were familiar with preventive disinfection, basic definition of aggregation of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) and the transmission routes of HFMD, with the awareness rates of 85.68%, 84.38% and 78.91% respectively. Being nursing points(OR=20.568, 95%: 3.544-200.406), childcare workers having not participated in field control of aggregation events(OR=6.730, 95%: 1.960-23.110) or on-the-job training(OR=3.610, 95%: 1.110-7.176) were influencing factors of their infectious disease prevention and control level. Conclusions Under the medicine-education combination mode in Pudong New Area, the infectious disease prevention and control level of childcare workers is good in public kindergartens, but needs to be improved in nursing points. In the future, targeted training and teaching based on medicine-education combination practice should be carried out to improve the infectious disease prevention and control level of the childcare workers in kindergartens in Pudong New Area.
