Preliminary exploration on value of serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, high-sensitivity C-reaction protein, cystatian C and urine-microalbumin in early diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy
Abstract:Objective To investigate the changes of serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), high-sensitivity C-reaction protein (hs-CRP), cystatian C (CysC) and urine-microalbumin (U-mALB) expression in patients with early diabetic nephropathy (DN) and their clinical significance. Methods One hundred and fifty-six cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were divided into three groups according to the urine albumin excretion rate (UAER), simple diabetic group(NA), early diabetic nephropathy group(MA)and clinical nephropathy group (CN). Fifty healthy physical examinees were recruited as control group (NC). Serum NGAL was measured by ELISA. Serum hs-CRP were determined by latex-enhanced immunot-urbidimetry. Serum CysC was detected by rate immune scatter turbidimetry. Serum U-mALB was detected by chemiluminescent. The data were statistically analyzed by SPSS software. Results Serum NGAL was higher in NA, MA and CN group than in NC group (P<0.05), but was not significantly different between MA group and CN group (P>0.05). Moreover, the serum levels of hs-CRP, CysC and U-mALB were higher in NA, MA and CN groups than in NC group(P<0.05). Serum NGAL were positively correlated with hs-CRP, CysC and U-mALB (R2=0.2811, R2=0.1809 and R2= 0.8580 respectively, all P<0.001). Conclusions Serum NGAL is rapidly increased in early diabetic nephropathy. It is a sensitive and accurate index. Combination of NGAL with hs-CRP, CysC and U-mALB has higher clinical significance in diagnosis of early diabetic nephropathy.
