Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of an oral liquid on hyperuricemia rat model. Methods According to the level of serum uric acid, 90 SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups (each n=15), including the normal control group, the model control group, the positive control group (allopurinol 27.0 mg/kg.bw) and low-, medium- and high-dose groups of uric acid-lowering oral solution (1.67 ml/kg.bw, 3.33 ml/kg.bw, 10.00 ml/kg.bw). Rats of all groups received adenine + potassium oxonate compound to induce hyperuricemia except the normal control group, and then test solution was given to the rats by oral gavage for 30 successive days. Serum uric acid (UA), creatinine (Cr) and urea nitrogen (BUN) were measured. The kidneys were taken for pathological sectioning examination. Results At the end of the experiment, serum levels of UA and Cr were significantly lower in low-, medium- and high-dose groups of uric acid-lowering oral solution than in the model control group (all P<0.01). Renal pathological results showed that the degree of renal tubular lesions was significantly relieved in the middle- and high-dose groups of uric acid-lowering oral solution as compared with the model control group. Conclusions The uric acid-lowering oral liquid can significantly improve the rats’ hyperuricemia induced by adenine + potassium oxonate compound.
