Abstract:Objective To systematically assess the relationship of depression during pregnancy with the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus. Methods We electronically searched databases including Web of Science, PubMed, CBM, CNKI, WanFang and VIP for published studies on the relationship between depression during pregnancy and gestational diabetes mellitus from the inception to December 25, 2021. Data of the included literatures were extracted, and the quality was evaluated. Stata16.0 software was used for the analysis. Results Seven cohort studies were included, with a total of 13,139 pregnant women. Meta-analysis results revealed that depression during pregnancy could increase the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (OR=1.412, 95%CI:1.186-1.682). Subgroup analysis indicated that depression during pregnancy could increase the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus under countries with studies (America (OR=1.728, 95%CI:1.276-2.338), Australia (OR=1.850, 95%CI:1.140-3.001)), research design (prospective analysis (OR=1.356, 95%CI:1.124-1.636), retrospective analysis (OR=1.850, 95%CI:1.140-3.001)), BMI adjustment (yes(OR=1.379, 95%CI:1.138-1.671), no (OR=1.580, 95%CI:1.040-2.400)), diabetes diagnosis (not available (OR=1.639, 95%CI:1.288-2.085)), and depression assessment tools (CES-D (OR=1.570, 95%CI:1.082-2.277), EPDS (OR=1.621, 95%CI:1.047-2.508), HAD (OR=1.580, 95%CI:1.040-2.400)). Conclusion Depression during pregnancy is related with an increased risk of gestational diabetes mellitus.
