Factors influencing behavior of college students with physical fitness test failure in Dongying City

Abstract:Objective To analyze the factors affecting behavior of college students who fail to pass the physical fitness test in Dongying City so as to provide references for improving college students' physical fitness test results and their physical quality. Methods College students with physical fitness test failure (including 95 males and 96 females) in Dongying City were randomly selected as the case group. A 1:1 paired case-controlled study was conducted to screen outcollege studentswith same gender, school, class and age andpassing the physical fitness test to serve as the control group. The case group was compared with the control group, and a multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to explore the association between the risk of physical fitness test failure and college students' dietary behavior, exercise behavior and life style. Results After adjustment for confounding factors, the risk of physical fitness test failure was high in participantswith overweight (OR=3.656, 95%CI:1.533-8.721) and obese (OR=5.224, 95%CI:1.609-16.964), having breakfast 4-6 times a week (OR=1.427, 95%CI:0.761-2.675), having breakfast less than 4 times a week (OR=3.109, 95%CI:1.582-6.108) andhavingmidnight snacks more than 3 times a week (OR=4.186, 95%CI:1.855-9.449), while the risk of physical fitness test failure was low in participants with moderate physical exercise (OR=0.219, 95%CI: 0.125-0.385), with a large amount of physical exercise (OR=0.073, 95%CI: 0.027-0.199) and with good attitude towards physical exercise (OR=0.197, 95%CI: 0.101-0.387). Conclusion The risk of physical fitness test failure among the college students in Dongying City is related to their body shape, dietary behavior, amount of exercise and attitude towards exercise.
