Abstract:Objective To investigate the contamination situation of food in Mianyang City so as to provide basic data for the determination of the national food contaminant level. Methods Four hundred and fourteen food samples of 15 categories were randomly collected from 6 representative districts in Mianyang City and 49 parameters, including pesticides, heavy metals and illegal food additives, were assessed. Results The total qualified rate was 93.00% (385/414), The qualified rates of vegetables, meat and meat-products, vermicelli, fermented flour products and bean curd stick samples, beverage and frozen drinks, chilli and prickly-ash products as well as waterishlogged food products were 93.59%, 91.11%, 50.00%, 90.00%, 93.33% and 70.00% respectively.The content of pesticides, heavy metals and illegal food additives inthe other food samples met requirements of the national food safety standards. Conclusions The overall hygienic quality of food in Mianyang City is satisfactory, yet the hygienic quality of some food is not optimistic. It is necessary to strengthen hygienic management and supervision on organophosphorus pesticide residues, heavy metals and other chemical contaminants in food.
