Abstract:ObjectiveTo understand the epidemic characteristics of cluster cases of hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) in Chenzhou from 2010 to 2013 and provide information for prevention and control. MethodDescriptive epidemiological study was conducted to analyze the monitoring data of cluster cases of HFMD in Chenzhou from 2010 to 2013, and chi-square test was used to compare corresponding rates and ratios. ResultsFrom 2010 to 2013 a total of 80 HFMD cluster cases were reported and the total number of cases was 256.Outbreaks occurred mainly in the family (67.5%,54/80),and reported number of cases was from 2 to 5 in a single outbreak (87.5%,70/80). Most cluster cases were reported from March to June(85%,68/80), which showed obvious seasonal variations. The children between 0 and 3 years old were the main cases(83.2%,213/256), and there were more male cases than female cases. Etiology monitor prompted, EV71 was the main pathogen in 2010 and 2012, CoxA16 was the main pathogen in 2011 and the other human enterovirus was the main pathogen in 2013. ConclusionThe epidemic characteristics of cluster cases of HFMD were similar with all the cases in Chenzhou from 2010 to 2013. All the human enterovirus which cause HFMD could cause cluster cases, the pathogen which cause cluster cases was associated with the prevalent superiority strains.
