Abstract:Objective To explove the relationship between the single nucleotide polymorphisms of glutamate receptor-6 gene (GluR6) rs6922753 and rs2227283 and violence behavior in alcoholics with bipolar disorder. Methods We grouped the subjects according to ethnics and violence behavior. PCR assay and DNA sequencing technique were employed to detect the single nucleotide polymorphisms of GluR6 gene rs6922753 and rs2227283 in 424 alcoholics with bipolar disorder. SPSS l7.0 software was used to analyze the association between the single nucleotide polymorphisms and violence behavior induced by alcohol dependence complicated with bipolar disorder.Results No statistically significant differences were found in the allelic frequencies of rs6922753 (χ2=1.261, P=0.262; χ2=0.315, P=0.574) and rs2227283 (χ2=0.114, P=0.735; χ2=0.128, P=0.721) as well as in the genotypic frequencies of rs6922753 (χ2=1.383, P=0.501; χ2=0.346, P=0.841) and rs2227283 (χ2=0.169, P=0.919; χ2=0.123, P=0.940) between violence behavior group and non-violence behavior group in Han and Uygur alcoholics with bipolar disorder. Conclusions The single nucleotide polymorphisms of GluR6 gene rs6922753 and rs2227283 may not be associated with violence behavior in alcoholics with bipolar disorder.
