Abstract:Objective To understand the incidenceof mother-to-child transmission of AIDS in Yili Prefecture, Xinjiang in 2013-2017, to explore the factors influencing mother-to-child transmission, and to provide references for future work. Methods We collected the relevant information about HIV-infected pregnant women and their infants in Yili Prefecture of Xinjiang from 2013 to 2017. Descriptive analysis and chi-square test were used to understand the general characteristics of HIV-infected pregnant women and their infants. Multi-factor logistic regression analysis was employed to analyze the factors influencing mother-to-child HIV transmission. Results Four hundred and ninety-seven HIV-positive women who gave birth and 496 live births delivered from January 1, 2013 to June 30, 2017 were enrolled into this survey. As of December 31, 2018, 471 infants and young children had completed HIV antibody testing for 18 months, including 17 HIV-positive infants and 454 HIV-negative infants. There were 11 cases lost to follow-up and 14 deaths without HIV detection. The rate of mother-to-child HIV transmission was 3.61%. The mother-to-child HIV cumulative transmission rate after the correction of deaths of infants and young children was 4.66%.HIV-positive pregnant women undergoing first-time pregnancy testat the gestional age of>12 weeks (OR=4.567, 95%CI:1.260-16.557),infants without administration of antiviral drugs (OR=13.115,95%CI:1.975-87.114) and breastfeeding (OR=10.105,95%CI:1.755-58.194) were the risk factors for mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). Conclusion Implementing effective comprehensive interventions can significantly reduce the mother-to-child transmission rate of HIV. The main factors influencing mother-to-child transmission of HIV should be fully emphasized, and the comprehensive intervention measures for prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV in Yili Prefecture should be strengthened and improved.
