Abstract:Objective To study the biochemical typing, multilocus sequence type (MLST) profiles and predominant sequence type of Bacillus cereus (B. cereus) isolated from food in Guangzhou city. Methods The biochemical profiles of 79 strains of foofborne B. cereus were determined based on the national standard. Seven housekeeping genes were to be sequenced according to MLST scheme for B. cereus in PubMLST. The allele numbers and sequence types were provided after submission of housekeeping gene sequences to PubMLST. eBURST V3, START2 and MEGA 6.0 were employed for analysis of the MLST profiles. Results The predominant sequence type of B. cereus isolated from food in Guangzhou city was clone sequence type 26 (ST26), accounting for 16.46%. ConclusionsB. cereus isolated from food in Guangzhou shows a high genetic diversity.
