Abstract:Objective To investigate the characteristics ofhypertension awareness in hypertensiveresidentsand its influencing factors in Jilin Province so as to provide references for prevention and control of hypertension. Methods From June to August, 2013, questionnaire surveys, physical examinations and laboratory testings were conducted among 2,996 permanent residents aged ≥ 18 years and selected by stratified cluster random sampling. The awareness rate of hypertension was calculated, and the factors influencing the awareness rate were analyzed by multivariate Logistic regression model. Results The awareness rate of hypertension in the hypertensive residents in Jilin Province was 35.68%. The Results of multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that the awareness rate of hypertension was found to be higher in the females (OR=1.349), the age groups of 55-64 (OR=4.794) and ≥65 years (OR=5.906), urban residents (OR=1.467) and residents with mental work (OR=1.633) and retirement and other jobs (OR=1.485), but it was found to be lower in the residents without family history of hypertension (OR=0.267) and residents with unclear history of hypertension (OR=0.418). Conclusions The awareness rate of hypertension in the hypertensive residents in Jilin Province in 2013 was low; and hence, it is necessary to conduct the targeted preventive measures based on the risk factors.
