Abstract:Objective To analyze the characteristics of the suspected adverse events following immunization (AEFI) in Wuhou District of Chengdu City in 2011-2015, to assess the running status of AEFI surveillance system, and to provide evidence for further improving AEFI monitoring work. Methods The data of individual cases of AEFI in Wuhou District of Chengdu City in 2011-2015 were collected through the AEFI Information System of China, and then analyzed by descriptive epidemiological methods . Results Seven hundred and eighty cases of AEFI were reported in Wuhou District of Chengdu City in 2011-2015. Seven monitoring indexes, including the report coverage rate of districts/counties (100%), the reporting rate within 48 hours (99.49%), the investigation rate within 48 hours (100%), the reporting rate of individual case questionnaire within 3 days (99.48%), the integrity rate of individual case questionnaire (100%), the upload rate of investigation report within 7 days (100%) and the classification rate of AEFI (99.87%) were up to the national standard. Of the 780 cases of AEFI, 396 (50.77%) had common adverse reactions, 178(22.82%) had rare adverse reactions and 206 (26.41%) had coincidental events. No vaccine quality events, inoculation accidents, psychogenic reactions and clustered AEFI were reported. There were totally 16 standardized vaccination clinics in 13 street offices in Wuhou District. During 2011-2015, AEFI cases had been reported in each street in each year except Jinhuaqiao in 2013. The coverage rate of vaccination clinic report was 100%. AEFI cases had been reported in each month in each year, and most of the cases occurred from May to August. AEFI cases mainly concentrated in the age groups of0-year (n=356, 45.64%) and 1-year (n=244, 31.28%). The reported incidence rate of AEFI was 35.39/100,000. The top five vaccines with high reported AEFI incidencewere Japanese encephalitis inactivated vaccine (630.60/100,000), TaP-IPV/Hib vaccine(204.47/100,000), pneumococcal 7-valent conjugate vaccine(154.08/100,000), juvenile DPT vaccine (145.35/100,000)and measles and rubella vaccine(117.31/100,000). Conclusions The running condition of AEFI surveillance system in Wuhou District of Chengdu City in 2011-2015 is good. AEFI is mainly common adverse reaction. The quality of preventive inoculation service and the safety of vaccines are both high.
