Abstract:Objective To perform a meta-analysis on the current existing studies related to protective efficacy of seasonal influenza vaccine among children so as to provide a basis for improving the effectiveness of influenza vaccination among children and developing strategies for planned immunization. Methods We electronically searched the databases of PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, CNKI and WanFang databases. The research deadline was December, 2018. Stata 12.0 software was used for meta-analysis. Results A total of 17 case-control studies were finally included in this meta-analysis. And the results showed that the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95%CI) of full-course vaccination of seasonal influenza vaccine were 0.47 and 0.43-0.51, respectively. The OR and 95%CI of partial vaccination (only receiving one dose of vaccine) among children aged below 8 years were 0.61 and 0.51-0.74, respectively. Conclusions Full-course and partial vaccination of seasonal influenza vaccine in children can reduce the incidence of seasonal influenza. The effectiveness of full-course vaccination is superior to that of partial vaccination.
