Abstract:Objective To study the effect of seal oil on hyperlipidemia. Methods One hundred and four patients with hyperlipidemia were selected as the volunteers, and then randomly divided into the blank group and the test group according to the blood lipid level. The test group was given seal oil soft capsules and the blank group received placebo for 60 consecutive days. Triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), the biochemical indexes of hepatic and renal function and other safety indexes were determined before and after the administration, and the differences were compared. The safety and hypolipidemic effect of seal oil were evaluated. Results After the administration of seal oil for 60 consecutive days, the levels of TC, TG and LDL-C in the test group decreased by 18.37%, 11.95% and 18.16% respectively, while the level of HDL-C increased by 0.107 mmol/L compared with before the administration as well as the control group (both P<0.01). The results of biochemical indexes of hepatic and renal function and other safety indexes of these two groups presented normal. Conclusions Seal oil has a good effect on hyperlipidemia, and shows no adverse impact.
