Effects of Helicobacter Pylori infection on serum oxidized low -density lipoprotein level and coronary artery lesions in patients with coronary heart disease

Abstract:ObjectiveThe study aimed to explore relationship between Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection and the level of serum oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL ) and coronary artery lesions in patients with coronary heart disease. Methods Totally, 159 patients with coronary heart disease who were subject to coronary artery angiography in the First People’s Hospital of Changde between December 2012 and November 2013 were selected as the research objects .14C urea breath test was used to determine Hp infection, and the patients were divided into Hp infection group and Hp non-infection group based on the test results. Meanwhile, the serum level of ox - LDL was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELSA). Results The serum levels of ox-LDL, TC, LDL and TG in the patients in the Hp infection group were significantly higher than those in the Hp non- infection group ( P<0.05 or P<0.01). The serum ox - LDL level was statistically different among groups with Hp infection of various degrees (F = 22.299, P <0.01). It increased accordingly with the aggravation of Hp infection. The serum ox - LDL level was also statistically different among groups with coronary artery lesions of various degrees (F= 8.711 ,P<0.01). It increased with the aggravation of coronary artery lesions. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that Hp infection as well as serum ox-LDL, LDL, TC, TG and HDL-C were influencing factors of Gensini score of coronary artery in patients with coronary heart disease. Conclusions Helicobacter pylori infection may plays a vital role in the development of coronary heart disease (CHD) by causing lipid metabolic disorder and increasing serum level of ox - LDL, both of which aggravate coronary artery lesions.
