Abstract:Objective To study the changes of serum interleukin-2 (IL-2), interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and T lymphocyte subsets in gynecological tumor patients after treatment with ginseng extract. Methods One hundred and twenty-five gynecological tumor patients hospitalized in Qionghai Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2011 to December 2016 were selected as the research objects, and were divided into two groups by digital randomization method. 62 patients of the control group received the routine chemotherapy regimen, while 63 patients of the study group were additionally given ginseng extract besides the routine chemotherapy regimen. Three months after the treatment were considered as the observation period. The serum IL-2, IFN-γ levels and plasma CD3+, CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ percentage in the two groups were followed-up and compared before and after the treatment. Results After the treatment, the levels of IL-2, IFN-γ, CD3+, CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ were all significantly higher in the study group than in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusions Ginseng extract can significantly improve the serum levels of IL-2, IFN-γ and CD3+, CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ lymphocyte subsets in gynecological tumor patients, and has a clear therapeutic effect on their immune function. Chemotherapy combined with ginseng extract has a more ideal clinical effect in the anti-tumor therapy.
