Abstract:Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) complicated with onychomadesis in Baoding City so as to provide a scientific basis for developing prevention and control strategies. Methods The cases of HFMD diagnosed in Baoding City from January 2015 to May 2016 were continuously followed up for 3 months after the onset of the disease. The cases with onychomadesis were screened, and then their epidemiological characteristics were analyzed. The categorical data were analyzed by chi-square test using SPSS 11.5 software. Results Among the 684 enterovirus-positive HFMD cases, 143 cases developed onychomadesis, with the incidence being 20.91%. The occurrence of onychomadesis was unrelated to the patients’ age, gender, urban or rural distribution and onset month, but the incidence rates of onychomadesis in the north and central areas (25.12%, 22.87%) were significantly higher than that in the south area (14.22%, P<0.05). Onychomadesis occurred in the HFMD cases induced by enterovirus 71 (EV71), coxsackie enterovirus (COX) A16, COXA6 and other enteroviruses, of which the incidence rate of onychomadesis in the HFMD caused by C0XA6 was the highest (44.64%). Conclusions Most of the onychomadesis cases occur in the north and central areas of Baoding City in 2015-2016, and C0XA6 is the main pathogen.
