Abstract:Objective To analyze the levels ofantibodies againsteight major infectious diseasesand the related immune statusamong natural population in Shijiazhuang City, and to provide a scientific basis for controlling the relevant diseases and improving theimmunization strategy. Methods Twenty-two counties in Shijiazhuang City in 2019 were selected by a stratified random sampling, and a total of 1,160 serum samples from whole population were collected. Enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay was employed to detect the immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody levels of measles, pertussis, mumps, chickenpox, diphtheria, epidemic encephalitis B, meningococcal meningitis, and hand, foot and mouth disease (enterovirus 71 (EV71) infection). Results The positive rate of IgG antibody against measles among natural population in Shijiazhuang City in 2019 was 92.07%, with geometric mean concentration (GMC) being 5,204.50 mIU/ml. The positive rate of IgG antibody against mumps was 84.22%, with GMC of 772.00 U/ml. The positive rate of IgG antibody against chickenpox was 79.48%, with GMC being 2,059 mIU/ml. The positive rate of IgG antibody against diphtheria was 33.02%, with GMC of 0.35 IU/ml. The positive rate of IgG antibody against pertussis was 23.88%, with GMC of 35 IU/ml. The positive rates of IgG antibodies against EV71 infection, epidemic encephalitis B, and meningococcal meningitis were 49.22%, 18.71% and 18.36%, respectively. The positive rates of IgG antibodies against pertussis, mumps and chickenpox increased gradually with age, while the positive rates of IgG antibodies against diphtheria, meningococcal meningitis, epidemic encephalitis B, and EV71 infection decreased with increasing age. Measles IgG antibody level was higher in the age group of 1- year, and gradually decreased to the lowest in the age group of 20- years, then increased slowly with age growth. No gender difference was found in the positive rates of IgG antibodies against the eight major infectious diseases among natural population. There were statistically significant differences in the positive rates of IgG antibodies against the eight major infectious diseases among the 22 counties. The positive rates of IgG antibodies against measles (χ2=75.361, P<0.01), mumps (χ2=118.569, P<0.01), chickenpox (χ2=69.691, P<0.01), diphtheria (χ2=206.012, P<0.01) and EV71 infection (χ2=45.122, P=0.002) were 71.70%-100.00%, 48.00%-100.00%, 64.06%-92.98%, 0.00-52.46% and 27.54%-70.00%, respectively, all showing statistically significant differences. The positive rates of IgG antibodies against meningococcal meningitis, epidemic encephalitis B and pertussis were all lower than 40%, with statistically significant differences (χ2=78.176, P<0.01; χ2=81.920, P<0.01; χ2=122.908, P<0.01). The positive rates of IgG antibodies in people vaccinated against pertussis, mumps and chickenpox were lower than those of unvaccinated people (pertussis χ2=11.947, P=0.001; mumps χ2=9.354, P=0.002; chickenpox χ2=61.687, P=0.000). The positive rates of IgG antibodies in people vaccinated against epidemic encephalitis B, meningococcal meningitis and diphtheria were higher than those of unvaccinated people. Conclusion A certain immune barrier against measles, mumps and chickenpox among natural population in Shijiazhuang City has established. The positive rates of IgG antibodies against meningococcal meningitis, epidemic encephalitis B and pertussis are lower, which is easy to cause the outbreak of infectious diseases; and hence, priority should be given to prevention and control.
