Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the hygienic quality of secondary water supply in ships in Xiamen Port during 2013-2014 so as to provide a theoretical basis for improving the hygiene status of secondary water supply of ships and conducting hygiene supervision. Methods Fifty water samples were collected from secondary supplied water in ships in Xiamen Port during 2013-2014, and then detected according to Sanitary Standard for Drinking Water (GB 5749-2006). Results A total of 50 water samples were detected from 2013 to 2014, of which 19 were qualified, with the qualified rate of 38%. The qualified rates in 2013 and 2014 were 36% and 40%, respectively. The qualified rates of total bacterial count, total coliform bacteria, fluoride, zinc, total hardness, turbidity and iron were 50%, 84%, 98%, 94%, 98%, 96% and 96%, respectively. Conclusions The total qualified rate of secondary supplied water in ships in Xiamen Port during 2013-2014 is low, and the main problem is the exorbitant bacteriological indicators. Therefore, we should take effective measures to improve water quality, enhance the supervision on water supply points and secondary water supply in ships so as to ensure the health of persons on board.
