Abstract:Objective To analyze the positive detection of avian influenza virus in external environmental specimens and its related factors in Urumqi, and to provide a basis for further standardization of sampling and detection process of external environmental specimens and epidemic prevention and control. Methods A total of 909 specimens were collected from poultry-related external environment between January 2015 and December 2017. Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect nucleic acid, and the positive detection rate of avian influenza virus and its related factors were analyzed. Results Among the 909 specimens, 116 were positive for avian influenza virus, with the positive rate of 12.76%. Among the positive specimens, H9 subtype played a dominant role. The positive detection rate of avian influenza virus was significantly different in different monitoring sites and seasons (both P<0.05), and the positive detection rates in urban and rural live poultry markets (16.45%, 90/547) and the first quarter (22.33%, 46/206) were found to be the highest. No statistically significant differences were found in the positive rate of avian influenza virus among different types of specimens as well as in different time intervals between submission time and detection time (both P>0.05). Conclusions The positive detection rate of avian influenza virus in external environment in Urumqi city is high, and there is a risk for avian influenza virus epidemic. Monitoring sites and quarters are factors related to the positive detection rate of avian influenza virus.
