Abstract:Objective To explore the effective ways of reducing blood lipid level through implementing intervention measures among the teachers from one district of Chongqing. Methods The teachers from 18 schools in a district in Chongqing underwent physical examinations in the People’s Hospital of Chongqing in 2012 were considered as the objects. 1,023 teachers from 5 schools were recruited by cluster sampling method and divided into the intervention group (with dyslipidemia, n=409) and control group (without dyslipidemia, n=614). The intervention group accepted intervention of health education, diet nutrition and (or) physical exercise based upon their individual situation, while the control group did not accept any intervention measures. The blood lipid changes before and after the intervention were compared between the two groups. Results After a 2-year intervention, the levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) of the intervention group were significantly improved, as compared with the changes in the control group (all P<0.05). The levels of the above-mentioned indicators were all improved differently (all P<0.05) except the TC level of the males (P>0.05). As for the population aged 60- years, there were statistically significant differences in the levels of 4 lipid indicators before and after the intervention (P<0.05), while no statistically significant differences were found in the TC level of people aged 18- years and in the TC and LDL-C levels of people aged 45- years before and after the intervention (all P>0.05). Conclusions The intervention of health education, diet nutrition and (or) physical exercise can effectively improve the dyslipidemia of the teachers in the district of Chongqing.
