Abstract:Abstract:objective To understand the current situation of health literacy among residents in Cangzhou and to provide theoretical basis for the development of health education intervention. Methods By multi-stage stratified sampling method, 2130 residents were selected in Cangzhou. The unified National Residents Health Literacy Questionnaire was used to survey the health literacy of residents. The data was analyzed by statistical software SPSS13.0. Results The overall level of health literacy was 13% among residents in Cangzhou. The health literacy level in the three health-literacy-related aspects as basic health concept and knowledge, healthy lifestyle and behaviors, and health related skills were 22.2%, 11.6% and 17.0% respectively; The health literacy level of the six health issues as scientific attitude towards health, safety and first aid, infectious diseases prevention, basic medical care, chronic diseases prevention and information access were 42.2%、46.9%、11.2%、7.6%、14.2%和15.8% respectively. There was significant difference(p<0.05) of health literacy among residents in different groups with different professions, education levels and ages. Conclusions The health literacy level among residents in Cangzhou is still lower, and health education and promotion strategies should be targeted developed according to the characteristics of populations with the purpose of improving the health literacy level of the whole population.
