Abstract:Objective To estimate the contamination status of lead and cadmium in soil of Baoji and provide bases for evaluation and management of local soil pollution. Method Lead and cadmium in samples randomly selected from 50 towns of 3 countries were determined by GF-ASS. Their pollution situations were also evaluated. Results The average levels of lead and cadmium in the 200 samples were 20.33±12.26 mgkg-1 and 0.33±0.54 mgkg-1 respectively. The concentration of Pb and Cd in samples of different years had statistical differences (P<0.05). The higest lead was 24.26 ± 5.77 mg kg-1 in 2014, the minimum was 11.88 ± 6.83 mg kg-1 in 2012. The level was significantly lower than other years in 2012(P<0.05); While the higest cadmium level was 0.59±1.11 mg kg-1 in 2011, the minimum was 0.16±0.11 mg in 2012. The level in 2011 is significantly higher than other years (P<0.05). Concentration of lead and cadmium had no statistical differences in samples from different areas. For lead concentration there were 195 samples of level 1(97.5%), 2 samples of level 2(2.5%). For cadmium concentration there were 94 samples of level 1(47.0%), 48 samples of level 2 (24.0%), 48 samples of level 3(24.0%) and 10 samples which were worse than level 3. Lead contamination in different year, different counties had no statistical differences (P> 0.05) while cadmium pollution differed significantly (P<0.05). Conclusion Soil in Baoji City has been polluted by heavy metals, pollution level is lower than national average level. Comprehensive prevention and control measures should be taken according to the pollution situation. Management and supervision of soil pollution should be strengthened as to decrease the risk of further damage.
