Abstract:Objective To investigate the infection situation of norovirus and its genotypes among children with acute diarrheain sentinel hospitals in Hunan Province. Methods Fecal specimens were collected from 936 chirdren with acute diarrhea in sentinel hospitals in Hunan Province from January 2012 to December 2014. RT-PCR was used to detect norovirus and obtain positive samples. Phylogenetic analysis and genotyping were performed. Results Totally, 100 out of 936 samples were postive for norovirus, with the positive rate of 10.68%. 38 out of 40 sequenced strains were GII, among which 31 isolates were GII.4 variants. GII.4 Sydney 2012 and GII.4 Den Haag 2006b were respectively detected in 14 isolates. Conclusions Norovirus has a high detection rate in children with acute diarrhea in sentinel hospitals in Hunan Province, 2012-2014. GII.4 variant is the predominant strain, and GII.4 Sydney 2012 and GII.4 Den Haag 2006b are the predominant genotypes.
