Abstract：Objective To explore the factors influencing quality of life of community patients suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), and to provide a scientific basis for formulating rational countermeasures and improving their quality of life. Methods Chinese Normal Audit Diabetes-dependent Quality of Life (CN-ADDQOL) and a self-designed questionnaire were used to survey and evaluate 205 community patients with type 2 DM in Guangzhou City. And the surveyed data were fitted by a structural equation model (SEM). Results The SEM results showed that the model fitting indexes were as follows: χ2=652.979, CMIN/DF=2.221, CFI=0.875, IFI=0.877 and RMSEA=0.077. There were correlations among different dimensions of quality of life in the patients with type 2 DM. 8 factors, including residence, educational background, history of coronary heart disease, duration of DM, knowledge of self-management, foot examination, regular exercise and blood glucose control, had statistical significance in influencing different dimentions of quality of life in the patients with type 2 DM (all P<0.05). Conclusions The SEM is suitable for analyzing the factors influencing quality of life in the patients with type 2 DM, and the patients should improve their quality of life through increasing the knowledge concerning self-management of DM and taking regular physical exercises.
