Abstract:Objective To investigate the cognition of wild fungus poisoning and analyze its influencing factors among residents in a city of Hunan Province, and to provide references for the targeted promotion of toxic wild fungus poisoning prevention and control. Methods A multi-stage sampling method was adopted to randomly select 480 residents from 5 districts and counties of a city in Hunan Province to serve as the research subjects. A paper questionnaire survey was conducted using a questionnaire on the status of cognition of wild mushroom poisoningand its influencing factors among residents in Hunan Province. Results Results of the survey on the cognition of wild mushroom poisoning among the residents in the city in Hunan Province showed that only 4 of the 8 questions had an awareness rate of over 80%. The binary logistic regression analysis displayed that residents with housework and unemployment (OR=0.353, 95%CI:0.152-0.821, P=0.016), and residents having a habit of eating wild mushrooms (OR=0.337, 95%CI:0.140-0.812, P=0.015) had a lower probability of getting high scores. Results of multiple-response analysis revealed that the actual approach for acquiring poisoning knowledge through "propaganda slogan or poster", "WeChat, small video and other mobile phone information" was consistent with the desired way. TV was currently ranked fourth in the current way to obtain information but ranked second in the desired way. Conclusion The awareness rate of knowledge about wild mushroom poisoning among the residents in the city in Hunan Province needs to be improved, and risk communication strategies need to be further optimized.
